On serait vraiment perdu sans des artisans
| There's a lot to be said for reliable tradesmen! |
Ours called around at first light Monday morning and fixed the roof problem (we hope - pending the next hurricane). Better news still - the front door is being fitted tomorrow so we will finally be able to crack on with wood and plasterwork...
In the meantime, we had to come up with
a contingency plan to carry on working
through the power cuts so we decided to
make a start on cleaning up the stone walls
in the Bergerie.
Below the "before" and "work in progress" pictures as well as easy to follow instructions for anybody foolish enough to embark on
a similar activity:
- step 1: take several "chill pills" and put yourself in a happy place. Then work out with electric pick hammer until you develop biceps that would qualify you for entry to Mr/Mrs Universe.
- step 2: take the whole bottle of "chill pills", grab a chisel and hammer and spend what seems like the rest of your life cleaning up around every individual stone.
- step 3: put the hammer down, I said
PUT THE HAMMER DOWN!
Tip: when it all gets a bit too much,
we would strongly recommend tea, chocolate biscuits and, if all else fails, hitting
the person who suggests cleaning up
the walls in the first place!
So provided I make it alive for a few more days, tune in at the weekend to see
the finished result...
