A room with a view

Malheureusement la Mairie n'est pas passée cette semaine...  Mais ce n'est que partie remise pour fin juin et cela nous a donné plus de temps pour complètement nettoyer la haie en face de la Bergerie. Nous n'étions pas vraiment enthousiastes car nous savions ce qui nous attendait - orties, ronces et des tas de petites bêtes!  Mais le résultat en vallait vraiment la peine car le chemin baigne à nouveau dans la lumière du soleil qui illumine aussi les nouveaux escaliers d'entrée et la Bergerie. Nous avons d'autre part fait la connaissance de nos voisins herbivores de l'autre côté de la haie: Romarin, Flageolet et Menthe (mari anglais oblige!) que vous pouvez découvrir ci-dessous. Enfin, pour le plus grand plaisir de Simone      (la femme du vieux fermier et légende locale),  il y a maintenant une vue imprenable de la grange sur La Ruette - très pratique pour surveiller tout ce qui s'y passe... Comme nous vous l'avions annoncé la semaine dernière, nous partons dimanche en Irlande.  Nous avons autant besoin de repos que d'un trèfle porte-bonheur pour arriver au bout de cette rénovation.  Nous serons de retour fin juin donc ne rattez pas notre rendez-vous!

Sorry to report that the Mairie did not make it this week...  They are now planning to come at the end of June which has given us some extra time to completely clear the thick overgrown hedge opposite the Bergerie. This was not a job we were looking forward to - lots of nettles, thorns and creepy crawlies! But the result has been worth it as sunlight is once again flooding through onto the path, our new stairs and into the Bergerie. We've also finally met our four-legged neighbours on the other side of the hedge: Rosemary, Mint and Stew (see pictures below). And, to the delight of Simone (the old farmer's wife and local legend), there is now a sweeping view from the barn to La Ruette - perfect to keep an eye on all the action... As we mentioned last week, we're off to Ireland on Sunday.  We need as much a rest as that lucky shamrock to get through to the end of the renovation.  We'll be back end of June so do call again then!
