C'est formidable quand tout se passe comme prévu! Si seulement...
| Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?! Or not... |
Just as we plan to get started on the fencing, France suffers a late arctic spell and the ground freezes over again.
Since a change is supposedly as good as a rest, we decide to move back inside and put the old T&G ceiling (remember, the one that fell down during the storm two weeks ago?) back up.
This in itself is pretty straight-forward as all the wood is cut to size, ready to be fixed to the beams.
But old demons are looming in the shadows...
First of all, the world's smallest nails designed to (and I quote!) make the T&G installation "really quick and easy". All they actually seem designed to do is get you to hit everything (fingers, hooks, T&G - or all of
the above) but!
Then a 6st playful puppy, determined to get your attention even if it involves chewing your ankles as you climb up and down
the ladder or chilling on the very strip of insulation you need.
And last, but not least, the fibre-glass insulation itself (resting on top of
the ceiling). Many words could be used to describe the feelings one develops for this material - sadly all have been censored!
But just take a look at the effect it has on Stephen and you'll get the idea...
